Glenwood business receives grant

A Glenwood manufacturer has received a $100,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to help expand its business.

Clyde Machines, a majority woman-owned business, manufactures ground support equipment for the airline industry. The company plans to invest $9.2 million to build a 100,000-square-foot building to expand production and will create 15 jobs paying wages that average $14.37 an hour, the department said in a Wednesday, June 20, news release.

Although women hold a majority stake in the business, they are not involved in the day-to-day operations, said President Chad Barsness.

The grant was one of five given to Minnesota companies from the state's Job Creation Fund. Four of them went to majority women-owned businesses, the state said.
