Dr. Gregory Gesell joins local hospital
Dr. Gregory Gesell, who was born and raised in Alexandria, will relocate back to Alexandria from Grand Rapids, Michigan in July to assume the emergency medicine provider position in the Emergency Room at Douglas County Hospital.
A 2000 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria, Gesell attended St. John’s University in Collegeville for his undergraduate work. He attended medical school at A.T. Still University – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan.
After his brother pursued a career as an ER doctor in Pennsylvania, Gesell was inspired to study emergency medicine. He has since found that the variety of cases and challenge of thinking fast on his feet in the ER are a good fit for his skills and interests. He enjoys working with patients of all ages in an environment where there is no “ordinary day.”
Gesell and his wife, who are expecting a child, look forward to living closer to their families and enjoying time at the lake.
