Expect tricks, comedy at Garfield Days
Local festivals continue this weekend with Garfield Days, set for Friday, Aug. 10, and Saturday, Aug. 11. Garfield's event will feature two Saturday performances by Fargo-based magician Jeffrey Salveson.
Salveson, known for his bow ties and wire-rim eyeglasses, bills himself as "the state of North Dakota's only full-time working professional comedy magician and balloon twister."
The Friday schedule includes: quilt bingo and silent auction at St. John's Church at 5:30 p.m.; fire department water wars at 6 p.m.; a street dance featuring "Pure Country" from 6-9 p.m.; and a cow pie bingo benefit for Garfield Days 2019 at 7 p.m.
On Saturday: a pancake feed and silent auction at St. John's Church runs from 7-11 a.m.; Vendor Blender at Garfield City Hall/Community Center is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
A pork chop feed in City Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the parade is at noon; St. Luke's Church hosts a pie and ice cream social from noon-4 p.m. and entertainment from Fred Walter from 1-3 p.m.; at City Park, Lions bingo is from 1-3 p.m. and the kiddie carnival from 1-4 p.m., with bean bag tournaments at 1:30 p.m., and Salveson performing at 2 and 3 p.m., kids' water ball wars at 2:30 p.m. and the tractor pull at 4 p.m.
Saturday winds up with a street dance featuring the band Contention from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
