Richard G. Rud

Richard G. Rud, 76, was born November 30, 1941, in Kensington,MN to Alta and John Rud.

He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959, then joined the Navy. He served on a destroyer during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his service ended, he became a jewelry salesman, selling Black Hills gold throughout Minnesota and the Dakotas. He also owned a jewelry store in Minnetonka, MN.

Richard loved to hunt and fish. He was known for his distinctive laughter that could be heard and recognized for miles around!

He peacefully passed away on July 23, 2018, at Bethany On the Lake in Alexandria.

Richard was preceded in death by loving wife Patricia A. ("Trish") Rud, who passed away in 2006 while they were living in Lidgerwood, North Dakota. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and one sister.

Richard is survived by brother Dennis Rud; two sons, Randy (Joni) Rud and John (Jessica) Rud; granddaughters Shaina (Jon)Aga, Krista Rud, and Christina (Daniel) Reed; grandsons Adam Rud, Andrew Rud, Christopher (Amber) Rud and Zachary Rud; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard's stories, laughter and memory will live on through his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. There will be a private interment. A luncheon to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the VFW in Alexandria.
