Volleyball: B-E falls to Underwood in three sets

The Brandon-Evansville volleyball team went to Underwood (16-6) on Tuesday night and suffered another loss to the Rockets.

"We always know going into Underwood it's going to be a tough match," Chargers coach Kelly Olson said. "Underwood played much better than the first time we played them."

The Rockets took the Chargers in three sets. B-E fell in the first two sets by a 25-12 score. They pushed and scored a narrower margin of loss in the third set but they still fell, 25-20.

"We failed to execute in a number of areas enough to play with them," Olson said. "Our ball control was not where it needed to be as a team. We played hard, we just were not consistent in what we wanted to do."

The Chargers served at 93.5 percent, but too many serves were directed toward players, Olson said.

"We covered tips and rolls just a bit too late," Olson said. "We read what they were doing but didn't react fast enough. We got caught not being ready when the ball came our way. Simple adjustments that we will continue to work on to cut the efficiency of the team on the other side of the set."

Emily Bukkila had a team leading 12 digs and two aces on the night. Alli Satterlie had eight of the team's 20 total kills in the three sets. Bailey Schaefer followed with six kills. Setter Madison Quinn set her hitters up with 17 assists.

The loss drops the Chargers record to 11-14 with a Little Eight record of 5-4.

"We will get back to the gym the rest of the week and get some things worked out that we need to," Olson said.

The Chargers head to Wheaton to face the Warriors (13-4) on Monday, Oct. 16 at 7:15 p.m.
