Volleyball: Chargers win final home match

The Brandon-Evansville volleyball team was able to score one more win on Tuesday night when it hosted Ashby for senior night and its last game of regular season play.

"The match was tight," Chargers coach Kelly Olson said. "Each set we seemed to jump on Ashby, only to make some errors and let them whittle away at the lead."

The Chargers won the first and third sets by only two points. The second set saw a larger margin of loss for the Arrows, 25-18, as Brandon-Evansville completed the sweep.

"Give Ashby credit," Olson said. "They kept coming back the whole match."

The Chargers served at 84 percent, which didn't help their cause, Olson said.

"Korrie Randt had a great night serving, as did Emily Bukkila," Olson said. "Without those two this match may have been a repeat of our earlier match in Ashby. Brittany Korkowski also stepped in during the final push of set three to get a nice run of points from the serving line."

Alli Satterlie had a team-leading 14 kills, followed closely by freshman Bailey Schaefer with 13 kills. Junior setter Madison Quinn set her hitters up with 29 assists. Bukkila had 14 digs for the Chargers' defense. Randt had two ace serves in the match.

This victory gives the Chargers a final overall record of 12-15 with a Little Eight Conference record of 6-4 and a Section 6A-South record of 8-9.

Playoffs start on Oct. 23. Brandon-Evansville is currently sitting as the ninth seed in the QRF standings.
