For the second consecutive year, Jake Munsch was named Section 8AAA Coach of the Year by the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Munsch earned the yearly honor during the John Wilkens MSHSBCA conference on Oct. 26-28, where he was recognized for leading the Alexandria baseball team to its second consecutive section championship.

The Cardinals went 16-8 during the 2018 spring season, good for their second straight fourth-place finish at the state tournament. The 2017 appearance snapped a 42-year drought from state, as well.

Munsch has accumulated a 63-36 record over his four years at the helm of the Alexandria program, including a 36-15 mark over the past two seasons.
