Alexandria was well represented at the Minnesota Golf Association Junior Team Championship at Fox Hollow Golf Course in St. Michael on Aug. 6-7.

Braeden Sladek and Grant Rebrovich teamed up with Sartell's Logan Hamak and Chaska's Davis Johnson for a second-place finish in the 24-team field. Rebrovich and Sladek were fixtures in the Cardinals lineup this past spring, and Johnson just won the Junior 13-15 Division at the Resorters Tournament in Alexandria on Aug. 4.

The team event final score at the junior team championship is calculated by using the top three scores each day. The tetrad shot a 1-over par 433 in the tournament, six strokes clear of third and six out from the winning score of 427.

Gavin Cronkhite, Tim Berger, John Langlois and Kaleb Johnson combined for a 5-under par two-day total. They carded a 209 on day one, best round in the field, while the Sladek/Hamak/Rebrovich/Johnson team's 215 on day two was the second best in the tournament.

Individually, Sladek finished with a 4-under 140 for third overall in the field of 96. He carded a 71 in the first round and then a 69 in round two. Hamak followed, tying with Gordon Skaar for sixth at 1-under par (71-72, 143), and Rebrovich tied for 20th at 6-over par (76-74, 150). Johnson's 11-over par (79-76, 155) was good for a 32nd-place tie.

Tristan Nelko ran away with individual medalist honors, shooting a 65 and 69 for a two-day total of 10-under 134. Cronkhite finished second at 6-under.
