The Viking Sportsmen are now offering lifetime memberships for those interested in joining the local outdoor group.

Alexandria's Tim Cullen was recognized at the group's annual banquet this past April after he became the first-ever lifetime member.

The Viking Sportsmen return nearly 100 percent of each dollar contributed back into field conservation practices. One of their bigger projects includes hosting the Youth Outdoor Activity Day with the Douglas County Pheasants Forever, which drew 2,212 kids this past August to an all-free event focused on getting kids outside.

Anyone interested in becoming a lifetime member can call Mark Anderson for more details at (320) 760-2559.

Pint Night set for Oct. 4

The Viking Sportsmen will also host their first-ever Pint Night this week on Oct. 4 at Pike and Pint Grill in Alexandria.

The event starts at 7 p.m. and is an opportunity for those who love the outdoors to join in casual conversations with experts on a variety of hunting topics, including waterfowl hunting, pheasant hunting, deer hunting, Western big-game hunting and more. The event, which is similar to popular Pint Nights hosted by the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, is designed to be an educational opportunity for those new to hunting and for the seasoned hunters alike.

Snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and door prizes will be provided.
