Laura Wilmesmeier, Joria Downing and Kaylee Svee all reserved their spots on the Central Lakes All-Conference Team after their seasons with the Alexandria girls tennis team.

Wilmesmeier made the team as an individual, while Downing and Svee were selected as a doubles team. The trio helped lead the Cardinals to a 17-8 record on the year, including a third-place mark of 7-3 in the CLC.

“The coaching staff could not be more proud of what this team did this season, and we all agree it is one of our more memorable ones,” Alexandria head coach Dave Ronning said. “We also want to thank the parents for raising great kids that are coachable and fun to work with.”

In addition to the all-conference honors, Brianna Holm and the doubles duo of Madison Ressemann and Abby Sater were selected to the All-CLC Honorable Mention team.

Wilmesmeier went 20-7 on the season, which made her the winningest Cardinal of the season and the team’s MVP. She also earned the Hardest Worker award, while Sarah Jiang was named Most Improved and Sater earned the Most Team Spirit honor.

Megan Van Gaal was named the junior varsity Most Improved Player, and Autumn Botz won the JV Hardest Worker award.

“We have a very good core of players coming back and some very solid, young JV players coming up, so the window of opportunity is there if they are willing to put in the time,” Ronning said. “We lose three starters to graduation in Laura, Madison and Abby. Those three have been a very vital part of our program and will be missed, but … because of them, our program is much better. They were excellent leaders this past season.”
